Feast of fun times expected at 2017’s GroundSwell Music Festival

Halifax event set for St. Patrick’s Day weekend boasts stellar lineup of Rawlins Cross, Heather Rankin, the Stanfields and Ria Mae.

December 12, 2016. Stephen Cooke. Local XPress.

Halifax’s annual celebration of East Coast music and hospitality, the GroundSwell Music Festival, returns in 2017 for another year of merry music and tasty treats over St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

The three-day event includes a trio of concerts with top-flight Atlantic Canadian entertainers, starting on Thursday, March 16, with pioneering Newfoundland folk-rock band Rawlins Cross and Heather Rankin at the Spatz Theatre.

The action moves to Olympic Hall for the next two nights, including the raucous two-fisted Maritime rock of the Stanfields on Friday, March 17, and platinum-selling progressive folk-pop by Ria Mae on Saturday, March 18.

The evenings will also feature local cuisine served up by some of the region’s finest purveyors of quality food. More details about vendors and additional performers will be announced soon.

Tickets are now available at ticketshalifax.com and can be purchased for the weekend or individual shows.
